beginner crochet may 5 - anyone else signed up?
already crochet for gifts but want to learn proper technique instead of my self-taught mess ๐ do we need to bring our own hooks/yarn or does the class provide them?
Same boat with the self-taught mess, Jamie. I'd bring your own hook just in case, worst case you have a backup.
Krista's right, bring your own hook if you've got one already, a size H or I is fine! I'll have extra hooks and yarn on hand for anyone who shows up empty-handed, so don't stress if you don't. Jamie, "self-taught mess" is basically my origin story too, my first scarf came out a trapezoid. We'll fix your habits gently. See you both May 5.
ha the trapezoid scarf, honestly relatable, signing up ๐
Oh I love this thread ๐ Jamie, your "self-taught mess" made me laugh, that's most of us honestly! I taught myself continental crochet decades ago and still hold my yarn wrong probably. Marilyn, an H or I hook is what I've got in my someday-project bin. Signing up too! ๐
the trapezoid scarf made me laugh, april ๐ mine was a triangle. signing up too โค๏ธ ๐โค๏ธ
triangle vs trapezoid, we could've started a shape support group ๐ญ ๐
Vickie, holding the yarn "wrong" for decades and still making things is basically a technique at that point, we'll just call it yours! Kellie, a triangle beats my trapezoid. See you both May 5.
Marilyn ๐ "we'll just call it yours" is exactly the energy I needed. six weeks later and granny squares actually make sense now, finishing a baby quilt commission alongside this so squares are basically muscle memory at this point. thanks for actually teaching technique instead of letting us keep our messes ๐
