Mapleton, UT Doing this since 2009 2 classes
  • Fifteen seasons gardening at high altitude

Community instructor · a local volunteer, materials reviewed by the program

She started gardening in Leadville at 10,200 feet mostly to get the kids outside during the chaos years. Fifteen seasons of frost in June and hail in July taught her more than any book did. Now she just wants people to stop giving up after the first bad summer.

What Debbie teaches

  • Frost protection
  • Cold-hardy tomato varieties
  • Season extension
  • Hail damage recovery
  • Raised bed soil prep
