Justin is a trail and canyon regular who never took to skiing (too expensive, and the lift lines make him twitchy). A couple winters back, going stir-crazy in January, he borrowed a pair of snowshoes, drove up toward the foothills, and came home soaked and grinning. It stuck. Now it's his winter thing, and he brings his young son along on the slow days.
He teaches hands-on and low ceremony. He'd rather show you than lecture, and he uses his own mess-ups (the overheating, the wet boot, the whiteout) as the lesson. He sticks to groomed foothill trails on purpose and he'll tell you straight when something is out of his lane.
