Ashlee came to calligraphy sideways, the way most of her hobbies show up. She was addressing wedding invitations for her sister and kept staring at the sample cards, thinking that's not magic, that's just pressure. She wanted to know why her hand wouldn't do it, so she bought one cheap pen, then a book, then a few more books.
She's been at it about two years and won't call herself a pro. She reads deeply, she remembers, and she noticed early that a lot of beginner videos teach bad habits you have to unlearn later. That bothered her enough to want to teach it right the first time.
