Welcome, and a couple logistics things before Thursday

Jacob BurtInstructorMay 6, 11:30 PM

Class starts at 7 sharp, not 7:05. Park in the lot on the north side, the front spots fill up fast with the other program going on that night. Bring your own laptop if you have one, we've got a few loaners but not enough for everyone. I'll have the printers already leveled so we don't burn the first night on that. See you Thursday.

Good to know on the parking, Jacob. I'll bring my own laptop, already got Cura installed just in case. Printers leveled ahead of time is a relief, saves us all some headache. 🤙 😎

good call on cura, i'll install it tonight too.

Isaiah AndersonMay 9, 1:40 AM

7 sharp, got it, I'm literally always the guy running in at 7:04 so this is my sign to leave work early Thursday! Got a printer collecting dust since last year so hoping this finally gets me using it right.

Isaiah I feel this in my soul 😂 mine's been running since 2023 and I still just wing settings and hope! Excited to actually learn what I'm doing for once. See you guys Thursday, parking north lot noted.

Thanks, Nathan

Isaiah, leave work early, worth it. Nathan, "winging it and hoping" was my entire first month, don't feel bad. My first print looked like melted candle wax because I hadn't leveled the bed. Still on my shelf. Bring both machines' quirks Thursday, we'll sort them out together.

Oh my heck Jacob, melted candle wax on the shelf 😂 that's a mood. North lot, laptop packed, see you guys Thursday at 7 sharp 👍 ~boyd 👍

Kelton, honestly the failed prints teach you more anyway.

Andrew G.May 14, 9:24 AM

Bringing my laptop, already got Python on it from other stuff, guessing that won't help me at all here!! North lot, 7 sharp, noted.

Andrew, Cura's more drag and drop than Python honestly. Bringing my laptop too, already got it installed. North lot noted, see you Thursday 🤙 🤙

Andrew, Levi's right, Cura's mostly clicking sliders, no coding needed. Though if you ever want to get into scripting custom supports or automating file prep down the road, that Python background will actually pay off. Not week two stuff though. For Thursday just get it installed if you can before you get here, saves us ten minutes. North lot, 7 sharp, see you both.

North lot, 7 sharp, got it. Had my printer two years and still wing it, hoping week 3 fixes that 😂

Thanks, Nathan

north lot, 7 sharp, noted. no laptop excuse for me then, just hoping filament week explains why my first prints always looked like spaghetti.

Jacob BurtInstructorMay 23, 12:25 PM

Nathan, two years of winging it and still printing means you're doing something right already. Week 3 is mostly filament moisture, temps, and why spaghetti happens. Bring a question or two from your own failed prints, we'll troubleshoot live. See you Thursday.
