week 3 down, first successful print that didn't warp
small win but felt huge. filament class actually explained the why behind my warping issue. for sure for sure worth it โจ
Warping is basically the plastic arguing with your bed temp! Glad the class explained the actual why, not just "try this."
ha "arguing with your bed temp" is sending me ๐ stealing that
Kelton, thats a real win, thats the print that used to be my melted candle boat sitting on my shelf as a reminder. Andrew's not wrong either, warping is you're corners cooling faster than the center and pulling up, so it's arguing with bed temp AND drafts. Check for a vent or fan blowing near the printer too. Log the settings that worked, next one gets easier.
Jacob "melted candle boat" made me laugh way too hard, I've got one just like it on my shelf too. Good call on the vent thing, mine's right by the AC return so that's probably my problem right there.
Mark, that'll do it, AC return is basically a cold gust every time the cycle kicks on, corners never stand a chance. Try a cardboard box or a cheap tent over the printer if you can't move it, keeps the draft off. Keep the melted boat on the shelf though, mine's stayed there two years now.
Nice one Kelton!! ๐ฅ That warping/AC thing hits home, mine's been sitting in the garage getting rained on basically since I got the printer, probably why my rolls feel weird lately lol
Thanks, Nathan
Nathan, "getting rained on" made me spit my coffee out.
mark ๐ nathan out here running an outdoor sauna for filament. jacob's cardboard tent trick is next on my list for sure for sure โจ
nathan the outdoor sauna comment sent me ๐ญ got back from disneyland to find my printer just fine, filament not so much. ๐ญ
garage rain doesn't shock me low key ๐ค
Kelton, congrats, that first non-warped print never gets old.
Eric, Kyle, garage humidity is sneaky like that. Filament pulls moisture out of the air even in a closed bag if the seal's bad, and you won't see it until you get stringing or popping sounds mid-print. Cheap fix: a plastic tub with a lid and some silica packets. Nathan, that's basically the cardboard tent idea, just less rain-adjacent.
jacob calling it "rain-adjacent" ๐ญ sending
