The overnight print rule, and why

Jacob BurtInstructorJun 4, 3:32 AM

Don't run a long print unattended overnight. I did it once, a 9 hour job, went to bed, got up for my run and found nine hours of spaghetti on the bed because the model came loose two hours in. It's not really the fire risk lecture, though that's real too, it's that you'll wake up to a mess with no way to stop it. Watch your first layer, then check in.

Brian, small way is the right way to learn it. First layer paranoia is honestly the whole skill, that's the two minutes that tells you whether the next nine hours are worth your sleep. I still crouch down and watch the nozzle lay that first pass every single time, kit printer or not. Cheap habit, saves you a shelf full of shipwrecks.
