filament brands from Home Depot vs online for slicing settings
Class covered slicer profiles this week. Is Home Depot filament fine to practice on or should I just order online.
Andrew G literally saved me this week. I slowed down my first layer speed like Thursday's class covered and my printer FINALLY worked after collecting dust for BASICALLY a year! As for filament, I've just been using whatever Home Depot has to practice and it's been FINE for dialing in slicer settings. Save the online orders for once you know what you ACTUALLY like.
heck yes to what isaiah said, that's basically been my whole experience too. i grabbed some cheap stuff from home depot when i first started and honestly it was fine for learning the slicer settings part, dialing in first layer speed and temp and all that. where it bit me was storage, not the brand itself ๐ left a spool uncovered in my garage for way too long and it soaked up humidity and started stringing everywhere, had to dry it out in a box of rice for like two days to save it. so my advice is home depot filament is totally fine to practice on, just don't do what i did and leave it sitting out. get a container, any container, before you even worry about brand โจ
Home Depot filament's fine, just watch storage. Ours got humid in the garage, printed like garbage ๐ค ๐ฅ
Kyle J that humidity thing is TOO real, Justin said the same. mine's been sitting in the garage all summer in this heat too, might be cooking it the other direction lol. printed my first bracket fine though
